Starting out at Ralph Lauren as a technical designer laid the ground work for Kimberly’s belief that the most important part of any design is perfect fit.
Her next step was a design position at Nautica Jeans, a start-up headed by John Varvatos. John’s methods and approach to the design process are still a part of how Kimberly begins a new season. When Nili Lotan joined the Nautica team, Kimberly moved departments to work directly for Nili.
The industry began to take notice and Kimberly accepted the opportunity to step into a director role at a contemporary start-up line, FRx. She oversaw the direction and development for both the men’s and women’s line. Under her direction, the company was nominated for the DFA for Contemporary Denim and she was also featured as one of Lucky’s Favorite New Faces in Fashion.
In 2004, Kimberly joined the Elie Tahari team, excited to work in a new market. The unique environment offered a new process and was a purely creative time in her career.
Drawing on her background strengths, in addition to denim and wovens she worked diligently on creating the best fitting pants for the brand. She spent seven years contributing to the international success of the lifestyle brand. She reflects on this time as a pivotal change in her career and design methods.
After these sixteen years in various design roles for some of New York’s biggest design houses, Kimberly had honed in on her individual design statement and was ready to present her own point of view.
She co-founded Jordan Louis in 2013.
