News / spring trends
Climate change, global business travel, work hours running from day to night, make- up just some of the reasons why now, more than ever, learning to layer creatively is key to a stylish wardrobe. Yesterday in NYC alone we went from 75 degrees and sunny to 42 degrees and cloudy, in less than 24 hours. Meanwhile, global business travel can have you in 2 different climates within a few hours. So, we have brain stormed a list of the top 10 items you should have to conquer any climate, stylishly.
1, The Turtleneck
This season , designers have re-introduced this classic item again. Layering a turtleneck under everything seems to work and looks "spot on" this season and next. Try to find a few inexpensive ones in black, cream and blue. Play with them under all your warm weather dresses and add a fitted blazer or leather jacket too.
2. The Rain Coat
Not just for 5 year olds anymore, this trend was everywhere on the runways and for good reason. This chic outerwear looks a bit futuristic and with our climate change , its very useful.
3. Black and White Print
Every color has it's season but black and white can work all year. Layer dresses with black tights, boots, a turtleneck, and it's fall. Wear it with your favorite heels and a clutch to enjoy summer. Find a print with more black than white and larger prints. We love this dress by See for Chloe
4. Denim Jacket
Always downtown cool, a well tailored denim jacket worn over anything looks effortless. Think over a black pencil dress or a maxi dress. Replace your blazer after work and throw on a denim jacket for dinner Invest in a quality, designer denim jacket that fits well and looks chic. we love this one from See by Chloe
5. Tall Boots
Even with ankle boots taking over , a great pair of tall boots are timeless. Andrew Gn showed his collection of season less looks with tall boots, shorts and sheer long sleeve blouses. Retro 70's vibe mixed with all season dressing looked more forward than vintage.
6. Something Red
This color is proven to compliment everyone's skin tone and attracts mates. Over black, it can cheer up your winter wardrobe and in the Spring at gives your cheeks and lips added color. Even if it's just to add the color with a scarf, red is a must have
7. A sexy black lingerie inspired dress
Adorable paired with the baseball jacket at Seoul's Fashion Week 2015, this black dress is timeless, season less, anywhere dress. The layering ideas are endless so have fun and try mixing it with menswear for the ultimate easy chic vibe.
8. The black leather cross over bag
If you could only but 1 item off this list, the black leather cross over should be the one. Invest in the one you love, wear it every day, for years to come . It will finish everything you wear , magically. It's like a piece of fine art, you will cherish it daily. Never boring, never out dated, always perfect!
9. The scarf
Derek Lam 10 Crosby RTW Fall 2015 is full of any weather dressing pieces that would work in every cosmopolitan city from NYC to Paris to Beirut. The added touch of the scarf completes the style. Having at least 5 scarves to mix with is ideal. We also love the tall wine velvet boots that seem to work with everything including mixing them with a summer dress and adding the blazer.
10 The black suit
Style it a hundred different ways, everyone needs at least 1 great fitting black suit . Assembly NY worked in a cream turtle neck but separating the jacket and throwing it over summer dresses is just as easy. Black pants can be worn all year with chunky sweaters and ankle boots, white sexy tee and converse, silk cami with a jean jacket and heels. The idea is too layer and have fun
Spring 2015 from Sonia Rykiel is filled with soft, colorful fur wraps layered over sheer and loose knitted dresses.
We appreciate the easy flowing undone hair and edgy black eyeliner. Spring wouldn't be festive without a stripe and anchor piece as well.
Anything from this new brand will take a wardrobe up one notch closer to coolness. No seasonal collection, no resort or pre fall lines, no boy vs girl style, basically No Rules!
Head designer Demna Gvasalia, a Martin Margiela and Louis Vuitton alum (he worked under both Marc Jacobs and Nicolas Ghesquière), Vetements isn’t about creating a brand-new concept or theory each season. “My friends and I were sick of working in a system that was kind of derailing itself—designers trying to reinvent the brand and come up with new concepts every six months—and we wanted a creative outlet,” said Gvasalia via phone from Paris.

Angelys Balek Spring/ Summer Collection of dresses will be up to 75% off at our Pop-Up Shop April 24 to 27
The inspiration from the original contemporary artwork of Claude Monet and the introduction of laser cut vegan leather, Angelys Balek brings together a unique sense of style and design to this latest collection. She describes “Upon My o My” as more feminine than her previous work. The collection was inspired by a sense of imagination and a theme of daydreaming about nature as seen in the collection’s prints and patterns. She hoped to convey a sense of “natural happiness” and used bright, cheerful colors that are representative of the different elements in nature. A recurring key motif in this collection is the use of PVC laser-cut shapes that are rendered into the material to make the geometric designs that are featured in both the day and eveningwear.
Prints are influenced by Monet’s “Water Lilies” colors used in the paintings as well as a feeling of water in motion to recreate the designer’s own artistic interpretation. Drawing on her background in art design, she uses special techniques such as pen drawings to create her prints. Acrylic finishes resemble the appearance of both oil and watercolor to create water-like, textured prints.

Josandra Armillas is the designer behind the namesake collection Luna by Josandra. A New York native, Josandra spent her formative years in Manhattan’s West Village, studying art under the tutelage of her mother, a lingerie designer for Christian Dior, and dance at the Joffrey Ballet. After graduating from Parsons School of Design, Josandra worked with Catherine Malandrino and J Mendel before launching a line of edgy, provocative, yet affordable designs in Spring 2008. The collection is characterized by highly feminized, fluid styles, and takes pleasure in surprising details: the never-before-seen print, the delicate pleat, the perfect drape-elements that transform clothing into wearable art.
